Dear Southwestern students and families:
As we embark on a new school year, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all members of the Southwestern Central School District community. I hope all of you have had an enjoyable and relaxing summer and are ready to get back into your school routines. At the high school, all of us are excited to welcome our students back into our hallways and classrooms beginning Wednesday, September 6th.
It is our goal to help ALL students feel welcomed, connected and part of the Southwestern Family. In that spirit, we will do our best to keep open communication with our families. We are always available to answer questions or address concerns. We will do our part to ensure our students have the tools necessary to be successful as we provide high-quality teaching and learning. We also encourage all of our parents/guardians to take an active role in their child’s education. Studies continually point to the many benefits of parent/guardian involvement in their child’s educational experience. Taking an active role in the education of your child has never been more important than it is now! Thank you, in advance, for your role in this process.
Additionally, we will place a continued emphasis on Trojan Kindness. Simply put, Trojan Kindness means treating ALL people you come into contact with, as you would wish to be treated yourself (often referred to as the “golden rule”). Striving every single day to live by this concept is not just critical for success in high school, but also for the world beyond our walls.
As a final thought to our students, I encourage each of you to take ownership of your learning and to be the change you each wish to see in this world. I’m very excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year and look forward to seeing each of you soon.
Respectfully,
Mr. Matthew Kindberg
Secondary Principal
