• A message from Miss Brooke Adams

First and foremost, I would like to thank the Southwestern community for welcoming me and making my first year at Southwestern so memorable. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many new faces, work with students and colleagues, and see student actively engaged in the classroom.

As I look back at last year’s letter, I emphasized “I am honored to be here at Southwestern, where I believe academic excellence for every student is attainable. I plan to see through our mission here that students are pushed to their potential to become self-sustaining individuals, making a positive contribution to society.” I strongly believe that our faculty and staff give their all to live up to that statement. From our challenging Advanced Placement classes to our vocational programs, I believe we set our students up for success after graduation. We promote good character through our PBIS programs at the Elementary and Middle School. At the High School level, we encourage our students to “Do the Right Thing!” and students have the opportunity to join our Character Education club. At the primary level, our “learning, caring and sharing” evolved to incorporate more thinking outside of the box STEAM initiatives and sharing of time in the Maker Space.

This year, I challenge the students and their families to become more involved. The opportunities are endless with our music and art programs, sports teams, various clubs, and countless events throughout the school year. Families, I encourage you to get involved in our district-wide PTO and attend our upcoming Open House dates.

As with most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. I can’t encourage you enough to show up consistently to school, put the cell phones down and put forth your best effort. Let’s put more into the education of our children and make this school year the best one yet!
