1

Tier 1 Interventions in Classroom for Behaviors

  • These can include restorative practices, incentives, and informing the parent, at the teacher’s discretion

Write-up

  • Fill out form if student behavior is chronic and has not been deterred by Tier 1 interventions
  • Severe behaviors must be written up even if it only happened once
  • Only use write up forms that include the correct administrator names

Investigations

  • Meet with anyone (teachers, students, other staff) who were involved in the incident
  • Check video when applicable (no staff, students, parents to view the video)

Parent/Guardian Contact

  • Parent must be contacted before discipline takes place

Discipline

  • Assign as applicable to offense aligned to the code of conduct
  • Warning
  • Restorative practices
  • Lunch detention
  • Call home (every time, even if a student visits the office)
  • Suspension

Debriefs

  • For any major incidents or crisis that lead to suspension
  • Meeting for all staff involved in the event and all essential staff
  • Create a re-entry plan for students, including any additional supports needed for success

  7

Re-entry for Students

  • Debrief/re-entry meeting with student
  • Can be for any punishment where student misses time with his or her class
  • Restorative conference with teacher, student, administrators, and anyone else involved and willing to participate in conference
