Southwestern Middle School is pleased to announce its Students of the Month for December 2023. Congratulations to sixth-grader Andrew Cama, seventh-grader Leah Ternullo and eighth-grader Matthew Persia.

Sixth-grader Andrew Cama’s favorite subject in school is math. He plays on the sixth-grade Southwestern basketball team and is also involved in wrestling.  He belongs to Quiz Bowl and Chess Club, as well.  Outside of school, Andrew plays on the fifth-grade and sixth-grade Upwards basketball team.  When he is not at school, he likes to play with his brothers. Andrew is the son of Jim and Emily Cama.

Seventh-grader Leah Ternullo’s favorite subjects in school are math, technology and science.  She plays on the Southwestern soccer team as a left midfielder. Leah is a part of the orchestra and volunteers at the YWCA.  When she is not at school, she enjoys painting, skiing, playing violin, reading, practicing soccer, and hanging out with friends. Leah is the daughter of Damian and Kristi Ternullo.

Eighth-grader Matthew Persia’s favorite subjects in school are math and science. He plays on the basketball and soccer teams at Southwestern.  Outside of school, Matthew plays soccer for Erie FC and, in his free time, likes to practice and play soccer. Matthew is the son of Albert and Sabena Persia.
