    "We are all concerned about the future of American education. But as I tell my students, you do not enter the future -- you create the future. The future is created through hard work."
    — Jaime Escalante
    Title 1 Remedial Reading Teacher K-5
    About me: After leaving a 15 year career as a CICU R.N., I chose to become an Educator. I have been teaching reading to children for 14 years. I was trained in "Reading Recovery" 13 years ago. I have continually sought out programs I felt would benefit  my reading students who require extra help. Feeling a void in what was available for children with varied learning problems requiring a  multisensory program,  I came across  LindaMood Bell programs. I found a training site  and independently  went for  training in these  programs listed below  more than (9) years ago.
    It is my belief that the keys to reaching struggling readers are as follows;
    An understanding  of  the frustrations of  a struggling reader,  experience in identifying each child's strengths as well as their weaknesses & most importantly an absolute commitment to teaching  children the love of reading.
    • LIPS: Helps children to identify where specific sounds are articulated.(Multisensory)
    • V/V(Visualizing & Verbalizing): Teaches children to increase their vocabulary and detail in their understanding and comprehension of material. (Imagery)
    • Seeing Stars: Symbol imagery helps to memorize hard to learn letters and numbers.(Multisensory)
    • Talkies: Reading comprehension development through verbal expression.(Imagery)
     Additional  programs used:
    • Orton Gillingham: Visual/tactile chunking of phonetic information(Multisensory)
    • Wilson Classroom version (Orton Gillingham type of program)
