New Updates to PowerSchool Parent Portal

The District has been busy planning new upgrades to the PowerSchool Parent Portal to make this more user-friendly. Our overall goal continues to be to enhance communication between the district and parents, guardians and the community as a whole. Please review this document to learn about these changes. There is a date you need to be aware of and actions required on your part to be able to continue to access the Parent Portal.Important Note: PowerSchool is currently used to track assignments and grades for grade levels 6-12.
Changes to PowerSchool Parent / Student PortalParent Portal Single Sign On (SSO) Activation
PowerSchool enhancements have been made to allow parents / guardians to have a single sign-on (SSO) despite having multiple children. You will now be able to enter one username and password and be able to see data for all your children enrolled at the Southwestern Central School District. Enabling this feature also allows parents to download and install the PowerSchool parent app for a smartphone or tablet and access parent portal information on the app.
This new system has not been activated yet because once it is turned on, the “old” way of connecting to the parent portal will no longer function. Therefore we have included a procedure / information sheet in this mailing on the steps you need to create your new SSO account on the parent portal.
We have picked a date and time of Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 10 p.m. to activate the SSO feature. After that time, you will login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, click on the Create an Account tab and follow the instructions.IMPORTANT NOTE: Students in grades 6-12 will be walked through setting up their own account here at school.
PowerSchool Mobile Smartphone / Tablet App
One of the benefits of turning on the SSO feature for the parent portal is that you can download the PowerSchool Mobile app from Google Play or the App Store to connect to the district parent portal. To install the app on your device go to either store and search for: PowerSchool Mobile.The app will ask for settings to connect to our district, those are:
- District Code: HNGR
- Server Address: ps.swcsk12.org
- Username and Password: use the information you created for the new SSO site and sign into the site
