Budget Vote & Election
Mark your calendars! The Annual Meeting & Election for the Southwestern Central School District is happening Tuesday, May 20, 2025. In-person voting will take place in the Southwestern High School Multipurpose Room during two time slots: 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 2:00-8:00 p.m.
This year, voters will elect a new Board of Education member to fill an at-large seat left vacant by Correy Miller’s resignation. The candidate with the most votes will serve a three-year term from May 21, 2025, to June 30, 2028. If you're interested in running for the board, petition packets are available from the district clerk and must be submitted to the district clerk by April 21, 2025.

Get informed before you vote! Join us for a public hearing on the proposed 2025-2026 budget and meet the candidates running for election on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the HS Multipurpose Room. Be on the lookout for the Spotlight newsletter, arriving in mailboxes the week of May 5, 2025.
Early Vote/Absentee & Military Ballots

Military ballot applications must be received by April 24, 2025.

Absentee ballots will be mailed around April 25, 2025, to permanently disabled residents on the Board of Elections’ list.

If you need an early vote or absentee ballot and are not on the permanently disabled list, contact the district clerk.

To have your early vote/absentee ballot mailed, your application must be received by May 13, 2025.

If you plan to pick it up in person, your application must be in by May 19, 2025.

All completed early vote/absentee ballots must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.

Who Can Vote?
To vote in this election, you must:

Be a U.S. citizen

Be 18 years or older

Have lived in the district for at least 30 days before the election

Not be otherwise disqualified from voting in school district elections

Yes, please bring a photo ID (some examples are a driver's license, learner permit, passport, military ID, etc.) to the voting location.
I am a member of the military (or family member) and would like to vote by absentee ballot. What is the process?
- Military ballot applications are due by April 24, 2025. Please contact the district clerk for an application.
How do I become a registered voter?
- Please visit the Chautauqua County Board of Elections website https://chqgov.com/board-of-elections/Voter-Registration-Form. Complete the form and return it directly to their office.
