About Southwestern
Our District
Southwestern serves approximately 1,350 students in three schools: Southwestern Elementary School (Pre-K–5); Southwestern Middle School (grades 6–8); and Southwestern High School (grades 9–12).
The district employs 241 staff members . Each school has a principal, with assistant principals at the elementary and high schools. Our knowledgeable, dedicated staff and strong family and community partnerships create an environment where students can learn and thrive.
Our Community
Located just west of Jamestown, New York, the district includes the villages of Lakewood and Celoron, the Town of Busti, West Ellicott, and surrounding rural areas. The greater Jamestown area, home to approximately 67,000 people, is located 40 miles east of Erie and 70 miles southwest of Buffalo.
The area offers diverse employment, housing, healthcare, shopping, transportation, and places of worship. Residents enjoy year-round recreation throughout the Chautauqua Lake region, including boating, fishing, hiking, golf, skiing, state parks, and the internationally renowned Chautauqua Institution.
The National Comedy Center, Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, Lucille Ball Little Theatre, local museums, community organizations, and nearby colleges provide abundant cultural and educational opportunities. Together, these amenities make the Southwestern community a wonderful place to live, work, learn, and raise a family.
