    Justin Vanstrom, an eighth grade student at Southwestern Middle School, has been chosen by the faculty and staff to receive the 2019 Junior American Citizens Award given out by the Jamestown Chapter DAR.

  • Voters OK Budget, Re-Elect Miller to BOE

    Southwestern Central School District 's 2019-2020 budget passed, with voters approving it 286-106 on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. Mr. Correy Miller was re-elected to the Board of Education. The district is grateful to all those who exercised their right to vote.

    It was part scavenger hunt, part puzzle, part riddle, part hide-and-seek but a recent coding activity was all fun for a group of advanced math students and their teacher at Southwestern Middle School.

    Southwestern Middle School has released the honor roll and merit roll for the third-quarter marking period of the 2018-2019 academic year. Congratulations to all those who ranked. Dozens of students in sixth grade, seventh grade and eighth grade earned spots on the rolls.

    In observance of Wellness Day in March, students were able to drive simulators of driving with distractions such as texting and driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Marvelous Mardi Gras at SWES

    Second-graders at Southwestern Elementary School enjoyed quite the treat on Tuesday, when local woman Maria Malmström visited March 5, 2019, to talk about Mardi Gras, otherwise known as Fat Tuesday. Students in Ms. Nelson’s classroom learned how this day is celebrated in different countries and what special treats are enjoyed before a period of fasting.

  • Socks of Love campaign at SWMS culminates in donation to local nonprofits

    In a demonstration of love for their community, the Student Council at Southwestern Middle School facilitated a donation drive for the St. Susan Center and the UCAN City Mission in Jamestown and delivered the items on Valentine’s Day (Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019).
