Middle School names Top Students for March 2019

Southwestern Middle School has announced its top students for the month of March 2019. Congratulations to sixth-grader Kaitlin Galati, seventh-graders Austin McKotch and Andrew Piazza, as well as eighth-grader William Dorman on their accomplishment.

Team 6 has chosen Kaitlin Galati, daughter of Tony and Amy Galati of Lakewood as March Student of the Month. Her favorite subjects are Math, Art and Gym.  Kaitlin plays on Southwestern Basketball and JV Volleyball Teams and belongs to Band and Choir. Outside of school, she belongs to her church youth group, Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club and Infinity. She likes to draw, run, play outside, dance and take trips with her family. One thing you might be surprised to know about her is she is shy but when you get to know Kaitlin, she is a lot of fun.  

Team 7 has chosen Austin McKotch, son of Chris and Laurel McKotch of Lakewood as Student of the Month for March. His favorite subjects are Math and Gym. Austin is on Southwestern Cross Country Team and belongs to Impact. Outside of school, he likes to ride dirt bikes, play video games, fish and hunt. One thing you might be surprised to know about Austin is how well he rides a skateboard.  

Team 7 has chosen Andrew Piazza, son of Jill Piazza of Lakewood and Scott Piazza of Frewsburg as March Student of the Month. His favorite subjects are Technology, Art and Gym. Outside of school, Andrew likes to play outside, ride his four-wheeler and snowmobile.  Something you may be surprised to know about Andrew is he knows a lot about trains and likes to follow the train to each crossing with his mother and he can throw a stone over a 60-foot train trussed bridge.  

Team 8 has chosen William Dorman, son of Julie Dorman of Ashville and Charles Dorman of Northeast, Pa., as Student of the Month for March. His favorite subjects are Algebra, CTE, ELA, Spanish and Gym. Will belongs to Southwestern Quiz Bowl, Chess Club and Ski Club. Outside of school, he belongs to Civil Air Patrol, Bonnie Loch Fiddler, and competes in the Scottish Fiddler Competition. Something you may not know about Will is that he is in Advanced Math and will fly a plane in May.
