Middle School Names Top Students for April 2019

Southwestern Middle School has announced its top students for the month of April 2019. Congratulations to sixth-grader Nolan Lefler, seventh-grader Faith Hamilton and eighth-grader Lydia Covert on their accomplishment.

Nolan Lefler’s favorite subjects are ELA, Advanced Math, Social Studies and Science. Nolan belongs to Southwestern Chess Club and Student Council. Outside of school, he belongs to the Boy Scouts, likes to read, play piano, basketball and soccer. One thing you might be surprised to know about Nolan is he loves playing piano even though he is deaf. He is the son of Jamestown residents Leah and Dennis Lefler.

Faith Hamilton’s favorite subjects are Social Studies and Math. Faith is on the Southwestern Swimming, Basketball, Track teams and belongs to Southwestern Jr. Honor Society. Outside of school, Faith likes being outside, sing and hang out with friends.  One thing you may not know about her is she plays the violin. She is the daughter of Lakewood resident Carrie Harvey and Clymer resident Adam Hamilton. 

Lydia Covert’s favorite subjects are Science, ELA and Math. Lydia plays on Southwestern Softball, Volleyball and Trap teams. Outside of school, Lydia is a member of the Little Broken Straws 4-H Club, Chautauqua County 4-H Program, Jr. Viking and plays on Lady Erie Otters hockey team. She likes to work and show her horses, pigs, lambs, steers, goats, and hunt. One thing you might be surprised to know about Lydia is that her family owns more than 100 animals. She is the daughter of Lakewood residents Julie and John Covert.
