Shannon Sauder, the STEAM integrator at Southwestern Elementary School, was recently awarded $1,944.84 for her NYSCATE grant submission, “Rethinking the Elementary Sandbox with Augmented Reality.”
The awards committee noted that there was a record number of grant submissions this year, but the strength of Sauder’s submission was quite clear to the evaluators.
Sauder was NYSCATE’s guest at the 2019 Awards Banquet held Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. She was called on stage to receive a plaque with her name and grant title. Sauder says she used the funds to purchase parts to build the Augmented Reality Sandbox in the MakerSpace.
Thank-you to Ms. Sauder for fostering innovation and creativity while enhancing education at Southwestern Central School District through the appropriate use of technology.
