Author Bob Shea visits Southwestern Elementary

Author and illustrator Bob Shea visited Southwestern Elementary School on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 to tell stories and share his writing and illustrating process with students in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Each student took home a free book written by Mr. Shea courtesy of the Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES School Library System, who helped fund the visit with Mr. Shea.   Students in Kindergarten and first grade received “Crash, Splash, and Moo!” and students in second through fifth grades received “Unicorn Thinks He’s Pretty Great.”

The young Trojans also had the opportunity to buy extra books by Mr. Shea by ordering them through Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, a local retailer located in Lakewood. Special thanks goes out to Bob Lingle, owner of Off the Beaten Path, Southwestern Elementary PTO, and Brian Mayer, coordinator of the E2CCB School Library System, for helping make all these opportunities possible for our students.

Mr. Shea has written and illustrated more than 20 picture books including his very popular “Dinosaur Vs and Ballet Cat” series. He began his career at Comedy Central and went on to work with Nick Jr, Playhouse Disney, and PBS Kids. Shea visited give different elementary schools in Western New York with the help and support of the E2CCB School Library System.
